NanoVault has been forked to Nault with the aim to be faster and more robust without sacrificing security. You can find a more detailed announcement here, where we discuss the motivation behind this project and the improvements we have introduced at launch.

The Nano community has increasingly encouraged users to migrate away from NanoVault for reasons related to stability, inconsistent Ledger support, and also to help decentralize representative voting weight across the Nano network.

Switching is straightforward since the original seed, mnemonic, backup file, private keys, or Ledger Nano hardware wallet made in NanoVault works perfectly fine (and better) in Nault. So we have put together a quick guide for users of all ability to follow along and make the switch in minutes.

I have a nano seed, mnemonic, private key or wallet file. For Ledger Nano, see the next section.

  1. If you are running NanoVault but somehow have lost your seed, go to NanoVault (or your NanoVault desktop app), unlock the wallet, go to “Manage wallet” and copy the seed to clipboard.

2. Visit nault.cc

3. If you have the seed on paper as a QR, it can be scanned using the QR reader in the left menu. It will take you directly to the “create new wallet”. Or just hit “Import an existing wallet” from the front page.

4a. I have a seed

4b. I have a mnemonic

4c. I have a private key

4d. I have a backup file

5. Set a secure password to be able to lock the wallet. Not applicable for Ledger Nano devices.

Optional but recommended: Manage Wallet -> Enter password -> Update password

I have a Ledger Nano

  1. Visit nault.cc or use the recommended approach and download the desktop app. Using the web may result in annoying pop-up windows on Windows 10.
  2. Import from an existing wallet

3. Connect your ledger, unlock and start the Nano app inside the device

4.

5. Important: Make sure the status is “Ledger Ready” before trying to use it

6. More detailed info can be found in this guide.
